welcome at the NYU Meyers Graduation Ceremony at New York City Center on

 always welcomed.

Because of the high number of graduating baccalaureate, master’s, advanced certificate, and doctoral students, and the space restrictions of the theater, we have to limit the quantity of guests each student can bring.

The pinning ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of newly graduated nurses into the nursing profession. It is a tradition long held by nursing schools in the United States.

The Pinning Ceremony begins at 9:00am in the Orchestra Section of the New York City Center and it is only for May 2024 Baccalaureate Candidates for graduation.

It will consist of Dr. Selena Gilles speaking about the tradition of pinning for 3-5 minutes, and then the Candidates and Pinners will be asked to stand at their seats to be pinned.

NYU Meyers will be giving you your pin at no charge during Ticket Distribution, as a gift from Dean Angela Amar and the College’s Faculty and Administration.

You may select anyone as your pinner: family member, partner, spouse, faculty member, child or friend. Your pinner will use one of your guest tickets.

Because of space limitations, you can only bring one pinner.  Your pinner will use one of your guest tickets.

Each candidate for graduation will have one photo taken with Dean Angela Amar on stage.

Proofs from Island Photography will be emailed to each candidate within a couple of days, and will be available to order. To better facilitate the proof delivery process, you have the option of registering online in advance with Island Photography by uploading a selfie. Please note the following about registration:

  • Selfie registration is not mandatory
  • Your uploaded selfie will be used internally by Island Photography only.
  • Your selfie will be used by Island Photography’s internal facial recognition software to assist with accurate connection of your photos with your name, improving proof delivery time.
  • By uploading a selfie, you agree to this use of your image.
